January 13, 2022, Toronto, ON - White Pine Pictures and Adobe Productions International are seeking personal home video footage from the time of the historic 1972 Canada-Soviet Hockey Series to include in their upcoming feature documentary film ICE-BREAKER.
ICE-BREAKER, explores the legacy of one of the greatest events in Canadian history, the 1972 Canada-Soviet Hockey Series. The producers are looking for personal home video footage shot at any of the games played in Montréal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Vancouver and Moscow, people watching the games in the arenas, at home on TV, in schools, workplaces, shops or any other behind the scenes footage that relates to this legendary event.
ICE-BREAKER will tell untold stories of how the Summit Series came to be, its dramatic impact on the game of hockey, and its enduring legacy today in international politics, diplomacy, and nation-building. ICE-BREAKER brings a unique perspective to the 50th anniversary of this historic event, with insights from Canadian and Soviet hockey players, and from diverse coaches, politicians, journalists and fans across the country. The feature film offers a new understanding of the significance of these 8 hockey games on global affairs and on Canadians’ national identity.
ICE-BREAKER will be released theatrically, at high profile community screenings, in schools and on television and streaming services, licensed in French by Canada’s largest private broadcaster, Bell Media (available on CRAVE, Canal D and RDS) and in English by Superchannel, a must-carry service available on all Canadian platforms: Bell, Rogers, Cogeco, Eastlink and others, in the Fall of 2022, in concert with the 50tth anniversary of the famous hockey series. ICE-BREAKER is supported by Canadian Heritage’s Celebration and Commemorative Fund.
