PAT REED - Director
A decade ago, Patrick Reed abandoned a PhD program in History to work on documentaries, first as a writer/researcher, then as a director. In the past 10 years, Reed has collaborated with filmmaker Peter Raymont on a number of award-winning productions, through Raymont’s company White Pine Pictures, including the documentary Shake Hands with the Devil: The Journey of Roméo Dallaire, which won the World Cinema Documentary Audience Award at Sundance 2006, and Best Documentary Emmy in 2007.
Recently, Reed directed Tsepong: A Clinic Called Hope, a cinema vérité chronicle of the work of doctors and nurses fighting the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Lesotho, Africa. Tsepong received the 2006 Deborah Fletcher Award of Excellence in Filmmaking on International Development from the Canadian International Development Agency. It is also received multiple Gemini Award nominations in 2007, and has been screened internationally at numerous festivals.
Triage: Dr. James Orbinski’s Humanitarian Dilemma had its world premiere at the 2007 International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA); and screened at the Sundance Film Festival 2008.

MICHELE HOZER - Picture Editor
Michèle Hozer, a two-time Gemini award-winning documentary editor, has been working in the Canadian film industry since 1987. Fluently bilingual, Michele grew up in Montreal and studied Communications at Concordia University. She started her career at The National Film Board of Canada, working first in production then as an editor.
In 2005, Hozer won her second Gemini for her work on the critically acclaimed feature length documentary Shake Hands with the Devil: The Journey of Roméo Dallaire .
Hozer recently edited the feature length documentary A Promise to the Dead: The Exile Journey of Ariel Dorfman, had its world premiere at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival.

Gemini Award winning John Westheuser has been a director of photographer in Canada for more than 25 years. John specializes in documentary cinema verité, with a particular interest in character-driven storytelling. He’s collaborated with Patrick Reed and Peter Raymont on a number of award-winning White Pine Pictures documentaries, including Shake Hands with the Devil: The Journey of Romeo Dallaire and Tsepong: A Clinic Called Hope; and Triage.
