Director/Producer: Tom Radford
is an Alberta born and bred director/ producer with over 35 years experience. Radford has collaborated with Raymont on a number of projects, including recent feature-length documentaries, Arctic Dreamer: The Lonely Quest of Vilhjalmur Stefansson (Gemini Award for Best Biography, 2004), and I, Nuligak (2006) (Banff TV Festival Hors Competition Award). Over the years, Radford has developed a number of key contacts relevant to this story, including former Alberta Premier Peter Lougheed (involved with the Tar Sands project since its genesis in the 1970s) and analyst Larry Pratt, writer of the ground-breaking, controversial book The Tar Sands (1976), who remains the primary expert on the subject.
Writer / Researcher: Patrick Reed
Writer, academic, and filmmaker Patrick Reed has collaborated with Peter Raymont on a number of White Pine Pictures, including playing a key creative role in Shake Hands with the Devil: The Journey of Roméo Dallaire, which won the documentary Audience Award at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. Reed also directed Tsepong: A Clinic Called Hope, which won the 2006 Deborah Fletcher Award of Excellence in Filmmaking on International Development from the Canadian International Development Agency. Reed has also just completed Triage: Dr. James Orbinski's Humanitarian Dilemma, which follows Dr. James Orbinski (who accepted the 1999 Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) as their international president ) on a heart-wrenching journey back to the lands and people whose life-and-death struggle marked him forever. Triage screened at this years Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Editor: Michele Hozer
Michèle Hozer, a two-time Gemini award-winning documentary editor, has been working in the Canadian film industry since 1987. Fluently bilingual, Michele grew up in Montreal and studied Communications at Concordia University. She started her career at The National Film Board of Canada, working first in production then as an editor.
In 2005, Hozer won her second Gemini for her work on the critically acclaimed feature length documentary Shake Hands with the Devil: The Journey of Roméo Dallaire .
Hozer recently edited the feature length documentary A Promise to the Dead: The Exile Journey of Ariel Dorfman, which had its world premiere at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival, and Triage: Dr. James Orbinski's Humanitarian Dilemma.
