Solly
Lévy
In the summer of 1968, Solly Lévy, along with his wife and two small children, arrived in Montréal from his native Tangiers, Morocco. Lévy was immediately taken with the vibrant cultural life that awaited him. Within a few months, as a teacher of French language and literature, he was opening up the culture and history of Québec to a new generation of immigrant students from all over the world. For thirty years now, Solly Lévy has, though the medium of the creative arts, been forging links and promoting understanding between immigrant groups (including his own Sephardic Jewish community) and the majority culture in Québec. |
