Father Nicholas Salamis

The Reverend Nicholas Salamis is 103 years old. He has baptized, married and buried tens of thousands of Montréal's Greek Canadians. As his granddaughter put it, "Every one of those families have sent pictures back to Greece, so there aren't many degrees of separation between most Greeks and my grandfather." Father Salamis has been a permanent fixture in Montréal's Greek Canadian community for as long as anyone can remember.

His story and his life bears witness to over four generations of Greek immigrants to Canada. His century of life spans the invention of radio, the lightbulb and the motorcar. He has watched Canada itself rise from little more than a colony into an independent nation . More importantly, Father Salamis reveals some of his secrets to longevity.
