Director:
Janko Virant
At the centre of The Boatswain is Radovan Gajic, a poet from the former Yugoslavia who makes his living as the superintendent of the two buildings. As the first real point of contact for many new immigrants, Gajic is the backbone of closely nurtured, vital relationships in their new community of Toronto. Janko Virant offers a glimpse at lives that were forced to flee, and then looks closer to discover why the choice was made to settle in Canada. |
