Director Profile

    Marie-Claude Harvey

It was from a friend in Montréal's Lebanese community that Marie-Claude Harvey learned the story of George and Charles Farhood. Few people knew the history of their neighbourhood theatre, the ancestor of the Théâtre du RideauVert which stands on the same site today. This theatre is a monument of the Québécois culture, founded by Lebanese immigrants. In Opening Night, Marie-Claude Harvey brings to light the discovery of this hidden history.

In 1991, Marie-Claude Harvey participated in La Course Destination Monde, an SRC broadcast-competition, where she was awarded the First Prize, Prix du Public, as well as the ACDI Prize.

Harvey directed Attendre for the National Film Board of Canada, a documentary on the famine in the South-Sudan which won numerous prizes in international festivals.

Harvey has worked equally as a journalist on cultural and public affairs shows for TV5 Internationale and Télévision Quatre Saisons.
