Throughout western history, black people have been subject to prejudice and discrimination. They have suffered segregation from mainstream society and have been denied social mobility and opportunity. Do human rights policies such as affirmative action break social barriers and historic inequities faced by Blacks and other visible minorities, and allow them to grow and thrive in fields from which they have often been excluded?
