FEATURE AND TV-LENGTH DOCUMENTARY | IN PRODUCTION

The adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale swept the 2017 Emmy’s, winning 8 awards, including Outstanding Dramatic Series. TV adaptions of Atwood’s other novels are in the works and she is rumoured to be on the shortlist for the 2018 Nobel Prize for Literature. Who is this private, cerebral, Canadian poet and author? What are her passions and causes? What’s the source of her unique mix of witty humour and fascination with a dystopian world?

Margaret Atwood has invited us to accompany her, exclusively, on her global travels throughout 2018. Her itinerary is exciting and exhausting. Among her many adventures are a visit to an island bird sanctuary in the Great Lakes, a cruise along the dramatic coastline of Iceland, walking down the aisle as Matron of Honour at a lifelong friend’s wedding in Ontario, being feted at a writers festival in Wales, visiting the set of the next season of The Handmaid’s Tale, and meeting a California wizard – why not? This feature film will be intimate and revelatory as we follow Atwood and her partner, Graeme Gibson as they pursue their eclectic passions. We’ll witness Atwood’s insatiable curiosity, humour, generosity, the causes she cares about and her observations of human nature, laden with cautionary tales about our future.

To be released in the fall of 2019, on the occasion of Atwood’s 80th birthday.
