TRACEY
Writer / Director
Lindalee Tracey was the original creator, as well as co-producer of
A
Scattering of Seeds. An award-winning author, filmmaker, journalist,
producer and a partner in White Pine Pictures, she had an abiding passion
for Canada and it's own stories. Her twenty year career spanned radio,
television, print and drama, including script-writing for the NFB, documentaries
for CBC radio and television, TVO, CTV, Vision, WTN and Channel 4, England.
Her magazine features have won numerous national awards, and she is the
author of three critically acclaimed books: On The Edge, Growing
Up Naked, (Douglas & McIntyre) and A Scattering of Seeds, published
by McArthur and Company.
Tracey's recent films include
her 3 part series, Toronto: City of Dreams, CTV; Passing the
Flame, WTN; Invisible Nation for TVO, and the feature film
Bhopal: The Search for Justice.
In
2003 Lindalee Tracey founded Magnolia Movies, a boutique production company
affiliated with White Pine Pictures.
Lindalee
passed away in October of 2006. An award was created in her
name to be presented each year at the Hot Docs International Documentary
Film Festival in Toronto, to an emerging Canadian filmmaker who works
in the spirit of Lindalee -with passion, humour, a strong sense of social
justice and a personal point of view.
