GLENN GOULD: A Secret Life
A One Hour TV HD Documentary

Arguably the finest classical pianist of the 20th century, a man who combined his talent with a reputation for eccentricity, Glenn Gould has become a cult figure.

Gould’s private life has always been shrouded in mystery. Severely paranoid about exposing his intimate side, he once fired a cleaning lady for gossiping. For most of his adult life, rumours abounded that he was gay or perhaps bisexual. For the first time, Gould’s secret relationships with several fascinating women are revealed. Remembered as a solitary and lonely musical genius, this film casts a new light on a man whose love life was as passionate as his music.

GUITAR NOMAD
90 min/52 min Feature Documentary

He was the charismatic chronicler in the hit documentary “Hockey Nomads”. With his guitar, he has been called a true Canadian Shield rocker. Now Dave Bidini is quitting his band of over a quarter-century and heading off to a refugee camp in West Africa. Here, our Guitar Nomad hopes to record a fundraising album to help the refugees, jam with camp musicians, and search for an authentic musical experience. This documentary will capture the frustrations, dangers, and struggles of recording an album in a refugee camp: faulty equipment; shaky security;musical battles; and run-ins with corrupt camp officials. Are the Canadians on a musical safari, taking a walk on the wild side, using the refugees for their curiosity value? Or is this an honest attempt to create and capture music that escapes the camp walls, allowing the refugee songs and stories to travel the world, altering both performers and audiences forever.

Based in part on the best-selling book by Ian Stewart
(90 min and 1 hour Feature Documentary)

ian's stewarts xrayIan Stewart lived and breathed the adrenaline-rush of reporting from war zones. It was a life of constant tension and thrill; just the antidote to the middle-class upbringing of this young Canadian journalist. Then at age 33, Stewart found himself in Freetown, Sierra Leone, one of the world’s most bloody war-torn countries.

A rebel soldier shot Stewart in the head. His photographer companion was killed. Now Ian Stewart is preparing for the journey of a lifetime. Still battling injury and post-traumatic stress syndrome, but with his characteristic drive and wit, Stewart now
is returning to Sierra Leone to understand how reporters change the nature of conflicts they cover, and how his remarkable but fragile recovery is in grim counterpoint to the rehabilitation of a traumatized generation including the child who shot him and his partner.
