Episode 1
Things That Go Bump In The Night

Who hasn't frozen in place place, half-asleep in their beds, dreading those things that go bump in the night? It's the graveyard shifters who go after those things, or who are sometimes heard making a few bumps themselves.

Juan Fanzio, Crime Photographer

You've got to be a cowboy with a strong stomach if you're going to earn your bread shooting the sudden, the unexpected and the often gruesome events of the night.

Juan Fanzio is a 34-year-old newspaper photographer. He says night work, despite what he often sees through his camera lens, is perfect for him. No boss to watch him, he does what he wants.

His car is hooked up to police, fire and ambulance scanners. "I drive like a maniac when I get something. I love what I do. That's half the battle." The other half? "Cash."

Miss Barbra Fisch, Dominatrix

Miss Barbra has been a dominatrix for the last eight years. She is NOT an escort, and she doesn't have sex with her clients. She is big into leather. She is completely nocturnal.

Sometimes in the course of the night, she might need to change her outfits three or four times, depending on her clients' demands. Fantasies are what play out in Barbra's night. The trick is keeping them under control and away from the nightmare edge.

Terry Thorsell, Raccoon Wrangler

39-year old Terry Thorsell, longtime veteran of "Critter Control" works his specialty -- raccoon catching -- on the night shift, midnight to 8 a.m.

There are between 10,000 and 30,000 raccoons in the city. Terry isn't allowed to hurt them, and wouldn't want to. But it's doubtful a cornered raccoon lives by the same credo once it and Terry are face-to-face, straddling an icy 50-foot high rooftop at 3:00 a.m.
